A friend has a Traco sliding patio door, but the model# has been obliterated. It has a tandem nylon roller that needs to be replaced; not sure of the dinensions yet, but expect it to be soemwhat like 81-149. Is it a given that the door has to be removed in order to extract and replace a roller of this design?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will need to remove the door in order to replace the roller. There is no easier way to do it, I'm afraid. I would also recommend removing the roller before you purchase a replacement just to be sure you're getting the correct part.
