Truth Window Awning-type Crank

Home Owner from Illinois

One of my Marvin window cranks (like the one in one of the attached photograph) stopped working. It no longer pulls the window fully in nor fully pushes it out.

The internal "stem" (?) of the crank doesn't grab well when I insert it and turn it. I think this "stem" might be the piece that is broken and needs to be replaced. Or maybe I need an entirely new window crank. When I take the stem out of the body of the crank and reinsert it (with its left-handed thread), it doesn't sit as far down in the window crank and the other, same model, window cranks I have on other windows.

The width of the window crank mechanism is about 20".

Any suggested replacements or fixes you can provide would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob,

The piece you are referring to as the "stem" is the worm gear from your awning operator. When this becomes stripped, the entire mechanism needs to be replaced.

That said, you awning operator can be replaced with the 39-083 Dual Arm Crank. Given the dimension you confirmed, I believe this should be a fit but be sure to double check.
