Truth opeators and crank handles

Quick Learner from Charlotte, NC
Hello,

I am planning on replacing several broken window cranks at my wife's office building in the near future. I have been looking for the replacement cranks, but have discovered there are slightly more than one or two choices out there (yes, I am being sarcastic). While I was at her office, I took one picture (included with this post) of the crank, but did not find a part number or anything else that seemed necessary. Can you tell me where I need to look in order to find the correct information? Do crank handles differ from left to right - meaning, is a left hand opening window going to need a different crank than a right hand opening window? Is there any other information I should gather before attempting to locate the correct parts and perform the repairs?

Thank you for your time and information!

Larry

Thanks for posting. Whether an operator is considered left hand or right hand is determined by the manufacturer. For some, it's based on what side of the window the operator goes on. For others, it's based on how it opens the window. It's hard to say in each instance, and the best way to know for sure is to compare your operators to the images we have on our site.

For instance, take a look at our 39-032 EntryGard Dual Arm Operator and compare its dimensions to your own hardware. Do you think this would work for you?
