Tube Balance Replacement

I have a Ryland Home built in 1995 with Rollyson 8200 vinyl windows with a fixed upper sash and a tilt in lower sash for easy cleaning. The Rollyson company from South Point, Ohio 456680 is out of business.

These windows have been very hard to open from day one seventeen year ago.

I wonder if I should move to a stronger spiral balance. The current one has a red tip.

Window sash weight = 21 lbs
31 inches H x 35 " Wide x 1.5 " D
spiral balance 3/8" X 31 inches long with red tip
Double pain sash vinyl tilt window bottom

Please advise to the spiral balance part # I need. Also, what can be done to improve the ease of opening the window? It takes all our strength at this time.

Thanks for contacting us! It sounds like you may have our S900-28. With a red tip, you shouldn't have any problems opening your window.

When it was installed, how many times did you charge it? It's possible you may have charged it too much. Take a look at our tutorial video on how to replace a tilt window spiral balance, which shows the proper charging method.
