Unable to Lock Handle Set

Quick Learner from Virginia
Hi! I ordered your 82-002 - Sliding Door Handle Set, 6-5/8", at the end of May 2024 to replace a handle that no longer had an operational lock. Your 82-002 is pictured alongside an operational one from my other sliding door, which is identical to the one I am replacing, and both are in the locked position. As you can see, even though all the dimensions and holes align, the locking tooth (switched out for K tooth) is slightly lower (less than 1/4") on the new one which is just enough to have the tooth not hook and engage on the piece on the door frame. Both the old and new door-frame piece are the same, just different materials. When unlocked, the disengaged tooth on the old one is almost the same position as the tooth on the new one when in the locked position (i.e., lower). Unfortunately, I cannot simply adjust the location of the piece on the door frame because there is a limited square cut out of the door through which that piece can fit. I can maybe drill new holes on the door frame and move it down ever so slightly but maybe not because I am almost at those limitations of the cut opening on the door side. The old piece says "WIPI" and would have been from when the house was built in 2001. Any suggestions? I use a locking bar for security but was trying to have the lock on the handle operational. Thanks!

Hello,

Unforutnately, we do not carry a version of the 82-002 handle set with the same locking hook position as your original assembly. We were also not able to find a match through any of our suppliers. Though we recognize that it is not an ideal solution, the best workaround we could suggest would be to modify the cutout at the front edge of the door to align with the new sweep lock. I'm sorry that we won't be able to offer a direct replacement but please let us know if you have any other hardware questions.
