Unable to close window with crank

Question

Able to open window, but crank just spins and backs itself out when trying to turn to close.

how do I fix or replace?

The worm gear can't be repaired or replaced, so you will need a new operator. Yours resembles the 39-140. Review the specifications and compare them with yours to confirm a good fit for your window.
