Unknown window crank

Handy Person from

I hope you can help. I have two casement windows that are a part of a bay window. The cranks do not work. When I turn the crank to open the window it works but in order to close the window, you have to go outside and push the window in with several quick pushes and then I can latch it closed. I believe the whole mechanism needs replaced. However, this was an addition that was put onto my home in 1985/1986 and my dad ordered the window and I cannot find the brand or numbers anywhere.

We have Pella in the rest of the home so what he got was close to what the Pella window looked like, but they were not Pella's.

I can attach photos of the crank and the inner part of the crank that must be broken because it comes out when you try to close the window.

If you can give me any suggestions or if you can help me figure out what I need, it would be extremely helpful.

Thanks,

Rick

Hey Rick. Yes, the design of this crank handle leads me to believe you're not necessarily working with Pella-specific products. Now, when that gear piece pops out with the handle, it unfortunately means the entire window operator mechanism has worn down and should be replaced. The best thing to do is to see the entire operator mechanism that handle attached to. I'll need to see the whole assembly in its entirety, including the link arm(s) that push and pull the window closed. A bird's eye perspective would be best for this. From there we'll do our best to find a good replacement for you.
