Unstable Lock
I need some help! I replaced my keyless lock with this Keyed Lock 82-306. I installed it and it works... however, there is a lot of movement in the lock. It continues to move in its place. My patio door does have a large lock hole and I'm afraid it might fall in there... I assume that there is supposed to be tension from the tailpiece but it seems the key is moving on its part within the housing. Do you supply some type of lock stability backing to this product?
I would love some advice - Appreciate it! Thank you!
Thanks for reaching out to us. It sounds like that large hole you mentioned may be the reason why your lock has so much play. The lock cylinder on the 82-306 sticks out of the back of the handle by about 1/4" so that it can fit into a hole in the door that's roughly the same size. Without that kind of hole, I can see why yours might be so loose.
One idea that comes to mind would be to put tape around the cylinder housing to take out the play. I know that's not quite the answer you were looking for, but it might be an easy and cheap fix.
If that won't work, would it be possible to see the old handle and the door where this hardware is installing?
