Using 82-071 on non-Andersen door

Question

Can this lock work on sliding door other than Anderson? I have a sliding door from Lowes, don't remember the brand and I'm searching for a secondary lock so I can lock the sliding door while keep it slightly open.

I'm not sure if the 82-071 can work for you. It is made to install in a very specific way. See our 82-051, instead. Could this be a better choice?
