Vent latch doesn't reach the sash

Quick Learner from New York, NY
Here is a picture of my window.
As you may be able to see, the back stopper part touches the window, but isn't long enough to block its movement. I can still open the window as it brushes right past it. Please let me know if you have anything that will stop the sash.
The windows are wood.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Could our 26-434 be a better match? Look it over and see what you think.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your post. Can you please tell me how far 26-434 reaches back beyond the attachment face? It would need to reach back at least an inch to stop the sash.

I disagree with Tom, I think you can still get the 26-387 to work. However, you would have to notch out the wood trim where it would install. By making a notch or cut out in the wood, you could mount the vent lock closer to the sash. Would this option be easier for you?

Hi Dave,
I would not want to make a cut out in the wood. I just need something that extends back about 1/4" more than the 26-387. It's almost long enough.

Can someone please tell me how far back the 26-434 reaches? I can't tell from the web page.

Thanks very much!
Tom

The 26-434 reaches back approximately 3/8".

The 26-434 is designed to install on the upper sash, rather than on the frame. It would likely work, but not installed in the way that 26-387 is being shown in the original question.
