Vertical Window Sash Locks

Quick Learner from Silver City, New Mexico

I am the Jr Warden (responsible for the care f the buildings and grounds) at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Silver City NM. We have some vertical sliding windows which need new sash locks.

They are similar to your 90-005 locks with a 2¼" spacing between the mounting screw holes, but with a ½" distance from the screw holes to the edge where the sweep tab comes out. this might be okay if the sweep tab is long enough to latch into the slot in the upper window frame. How long is the sweep tab?

Also, what is the material of the 90-005 locks? 8 of the 17 windows are on the south side of the building and so are exposed to the sun's UV radiation at our approximately 6,000 ft elevation above mean sea level and this doesn't seem to be so good for plastic over time.

Thanks for your help with this matter,

Paul

Hey, Paul! I agree with your assessment; the 90-005 looks like a decent match at first, but the screw hole position is going to be an issue.

You may want to consider our 90-313 instead. This has the same 2-1/4" hole spacing but a much deeper hole backset at 9/16". Double check your measurement to see if this might be better. Make sure to measure from the center of the hole, not its edge; that might make up for that 1/16" difference.

You'll also note that the sweep itself is a different style, this being a hook instead of a tab, but that shouldn't matter too much. It'll lock the window all the same.

This lock is made of metal so it should hold up much better under direct sunlight.
