Vertical mount 39-140?

A handy person from Cape Coral, Florida says:
Your #39-140 operator appears very similar to the #30895A that I'm replacing, except for the mounting. The one that I'm replacing mounts vertically thru the inside of the window frame directly into the operator. The center to center on the mounting holes of the operator is 7", whereas yours mounts directly to the window sill.

It's not common for this operator to be mounted vertically, but I've seen it done once or twice. If it's otherwise identical to the 39-140 then I see no reason why it couldn't work in the same capacity. Just understand that this isn't the intended function of this operator; whoever installed yours originally evidently thought it would work, but I cannot be sure if you will run into any complications.
