Vetter Patio Door Roller

Home Owner from Minnesota
Hello,
We have an older Vetter patio door that has some rollers that seem to be wearing out. The house was built in 1967, so the door at the oldest would be that old, but could actually be newer. We are not the original owners. Is there a possibility that you would have the correct rollers for this patio door?

I finally found a short period of time where I could get the door off again and check the measurements. The wheels are, from what I can measure, 1 1/4 inch in diameter, and the distance between the center of the screw holes is 5 3/4 inches. Let me know if you need any more measurements.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for posting, Mark. This roller appears to be similar to our 81-018 Sliding Glass Door Tandem Roller, or its stainless steel equivalent, our 81-149. However, their dimensions are a bit different than yours. Please compare them to your own hardware and double check your measurements and see how these match up.

Which dimensions would you like to double check?

I've attached a couple of photos that show the overall width of the roller. They appear to be 1/16" narrower than the 81-018. Our current roller wheels appear to be nylon or plastic. Will brass or steel be noisier? Rougher to roll? I presume brass/steel would last longer?

One of the photos shows the weather stripping which appears to be metal with brush like material on it and it fits into the channel in the bottom of the door. Is that something you sell? Some of the metal channel was bent when I removed the roller.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for getting back to us, Mark. I'm not sure, it's hard to tell from your pictures, but the way you're holding the ruler it seems to be a bit more than 1/16" less. These rollers appear to be the closest match that we can provide, regardless.

As for the weatherstripping, I don't believe we have the metal slide.

It was no problem at all, Mark, I'm happy to help.

Resistance to rust is definitely the biggest selling point for stainless steel, especially if you live in a salt air environment, where metal wheels are more prone to corrode.

Great! Thanks for the help Dave, I appreciate it. I think I will give them a try. Is there a benefit of stainless over brass besides resistance to rust?
Thanks,
Mark

Dave,
Thanks again for the help! I ordered the 81-018
for our patio door. Like you stated, the roller is a little wider, but there was actually enough space to gently nudge it into the previous roller opening. The door is between the main house and a three season porch so I went with brass rollers for now and they rollers work great! Our youngest child can open the door with ease. I just wanted to follow up with the positive results.
Thanks!
Mark
