Sir, These strips fit in a vertical groove across the lower section of the upper half of the window. To install , the widest part of the strip's thin edge is pressed straight down into the receiving groove, approximately 1/4". When in-place , the small section's narrow edge rests snug against the window pane .Also when looking directly toward the installed strip you see a perfect 90 degree L with the wider side vertical and the narrow side horizontal, or forming the flat top . These strips will be installed in Ansi-Aama #101-88 windows. Hope you can help . Thanks,Bob.

Can you show us a photo from that angle where you're looking directly into the butt end of the strip? We call that a profile or cross-section view, and it looks like this, to be totally clear:
