The issue with long retainer strips is that different door companies change their designs almost every year, making it extremely difficult to keep up with the variations. Therefore, we recommend considering our 70-180 storm door clip and drilling a hole for a 33-020 screw. This method was commonly used by storm door manufacturers in the past, and we still find it to be an effective and straightforward solution.

To use the 70-180 clip, it needs to be secured to the face of the door with a 33-020 screw. The end leg of the clip has a 1/2" reach and should press against the screen or glass panel of the door to hold it in place. We suggest installing four or five clips on each side, possibly two at the top.
