Vinyl window latch replacement

Home Owner from Adams, NY

Hello, I am looking for these latches.I need 24 but I need to check how many left and rights.

The "sticker" is from the frame of the window - not sure if it helps.

Thank you

Hi Tom. Take a look at our 26-120 & 26-121 Tilt Latches. Review both latches, compare the dimensions, and see if you think these are what you need.

This is a window with 26-120/121 latches. It is a dbl hung with both panes that are supposed to raise and lower and tilt.

The latch on this upper pane has gotten above the top of the balance with the window closed. The space above the mounted balance must be large enough to allow the latch to spring open when the pane is fully up. I do not see a way to operate the latch or lower the window. I have a number of windows that this is the case.

Have you seen this, is there any fix?

Thank you for your time.

Perhaps I can be of assistance. I checked out a similar window that used the 26-120 and 26-121 top tilt latches. I don't think the top tilt latches are hooking on the top of the balance. The window I looked at had the balances secure at the top of the header with no space allowed for the tilt latch to get above it. Look at another similar window in the house to see how high the balances are installed for the top sash. I think the problem is at the bottom where the pivot shoe and pivot bar are. After you remove the screws from the bottom pivot bars, try to slide the pivot bars out of the pivot shoe. Let me know how you make out.

Thank you for your help.

Top of balance pic - I believe that this shows a gap large enough, or this one is not quite large enough, to "capture" the 26-120,26-121 as I described in my previous inquiry. This one must be a just small enough gap to avoid allowing the latch to get above the balance. I cannot get the upper portion of some of the windows down. Do you have any suggestions on how to get them down. Once down the trick would be to disallow them from going too high again.

How would I / could I force the window down - possibly breaking and replacing the latch?

2nd question - I believe the pictured screws are a #8x3/4" and #6x1", both white.

I see 33-090, 8x3/4

but I do not see the 1" - am I missing it?Thank you

To be honest, this is why I don't think the issue has anything to do with the tilt latches. Tilt latches really shouldn't interfere with the operation of a spiral balance in any way. This is why I was asking to see the pivot shoes and pivot bars, at the bottom of where the spiral balance. To be clear, the pivot shoe is a plastic mechanism with a cam that connects to the bottom of the window sash very die-cast pins, called pivot bars. See the video below for instructions how to remove the pivot shoe.
