Want to go to a folding handle

Question

To accommodate new window treatments, I want to replace the handle with one that is low-profile and folds. I don't need to replace any other parts, though would replace the cover the handle attaches to if I can figure out how to get it off without removing the window trim. Existing handle is metal and has this number on it: 45054.

I'm afraid your operator cover is not designed to be removed, it's physically built into the operator itself. I'm also not sure that you'll find a handle that offers the clearance you need. The only fold handle we have that will work for you is our 39-205, but this will likely stick out a bit.

In almost all cases, when installing window treatments over casement windows, you need to install them in such a way that they're packed out away from the operators. This is a very common issue with casement windows. The treatments have to be adjusted to make room for the operator, not the other way around. The fact is the manufacturers of these parts don't keep treatments in mind when they design their hardware. It's just not a concern for them, so you have very few options available.
