Wasco 17515 Sliding glass door track

Handy Person from Seaford, DE
I have a Wasco 17515 Sliding glass door that leads to my porch. The stainless track rail that the wheels ride on folds over when opening or closing the door. You can actually see it fold over just as the wheels move over it. Will installing a cap on it fix the problem? I'm skeptical because it seems like the cap won't provide any extra rigidity to fix whatever is causing it to fold over. Thank you !!!

Hello,

We'd be happy to help but we would need to see photos of the damaged part of the track to determine if a track cover may correct the problem. We do carry the 6' long 80-106 patio door track if you're concerned that the rail is too damaged to install a cover. We've related a few guides on this page to assist you. Thanks for posting!

You can see at the right of the photo that the door bends the rail down as it moves. I can manhandle the door and get it to stop, but eventually it does it again. Once it starts bending the rail, the door is verrrry difficult to slide. Maybe this is normal to occur if the rollers are bad? Or maybe the center rail has gotten weak and folds over easily now?

Thanks for getting back to us. It does look like the rail may be starting to separate from the base. To be safe, I would recommend replacing the track with the 6' long 80-106. See the video below for more information.

If you suspect that the rollers may need to be replaced as well, we would need to see photos of the original uninstalled to compare to our inventory.
