Weatherstrip Insert

Home Owner from USA
Hi,

The weatherstrip inserts on the bottom of my metal doors needs replacing. The one size fits all stuff at the local hardware stores is too deep.

It has a T-shape on either side that slides into the door and the fins are about 3.8" tall from the Ts. I attached an end view of a piece I had to cut off the door.

Check to see if our 58-168 replacement vinyl could work for you. It seems to have the same "leg" type installation as the one in your photo, though it does not have those fins. Could you still use it?

Thanks for the reply. The replacement you showed has "legs" at 90 degrees to what mine are. Is the idea to bend the ends up and then have an arc formed below to push against the door frame? This might do the work of the fins I currently have?

Yes, the vinyl is extruded flat from the manufacturer. You would need to bend it into the threshold. Laying the 58-168 flat the width tip to tip is 1-9/16" where the T's go into the threshold grooves. However, I notice yours is 3.8" between the T's. Can you confirm? That seems like it is very wide. If so, we will try to come up with another solution!

The distance between the middle legs of the Ts is 7/8".

Ah, I see. We don't have an exact match. If this came out of the bottom of your door, however, I would suggest trying our 58-176 as a replacement. This wraps around the bottom of the door and works as a door sweep. What do you think?
