Weatherstripping

Quick Learner

Hi! I need to replace the weather stripping on some old aluminum storm windows that are enclosing my patio. However the old weatherstripping I'm removing is really falling apart. The most intact strip I have been able to measure shows 3/16x3/16. However I'm unsure if I should get the weatherstripping or the weather seal? Is there a difference?

also, I have watched the videos about installing the weatherstripping but how would I install it when the weatherstripping needs to be installed on the frame that is attached to the house and there is no notch to slide it in at?

Thanks for your patience during this busy season. There's no difference between weatherstripping and weather seal. Those are two terms for the same thing. In regards to what you have, it's unfortunately not possible to determine what you have from these photos. Assuming it's some kind of wool pile, then our 58-002 is 3/16" x 3/16". This may be worth considering, but without an intact sample there's no way for us to verify that.

If there is no notch to slide the stripping in, then you must make one. The video below clarifies what I mean.
