Weatherstripping for Millard Vinyl Windows

Handy Person from Riverside, CA
I have Milgard Styleline Series White Vinyl Dual Glazed windows. I had them installed in 2002. The weatherstripping seems in good shape in most places but there are some leaks. I watched your YouTubes but I don't think they apply to my windows. I don't see how I can slide out the old weatherstripping so I can't get a good measurement of the base I need. Do you have any advice or help for me? Thank you so much,
Cheryl

Hey, Cheryl. There are some vinyl windows that seal the ends of the channel where the weatherstripping installs. It's very annoying, but I guess the manufacturer never thought you'd have to replace it.

Fortunately, we do have a trick you can use to get it out. You'll need a razor and a steady hand. What you can do is cut a notch at the end of the channel, just enough to allow you to slide the wool pile out. I would definitely also recommend wearing safety gloves just in case.

Thank you. I will give that a try. I'm assuming once I get a good look at the wool pile, I'll know which size and type to order.

Yep, wool pile is pretty cut and dry, when it comes to identifying a match. You just need the width of the base and height of the pile. The hardest part will be measuring the height of the pile, since yours is probably a little smushed after all these years, so you just have to mentally compensate for it.
