Hi there, I am trying to fix a new construction window. I weighed the window and it was 40lbs. I'm looking at the broken balance and it's stamped 32C. Was this balance the wrong one? I remember when we moved in and had the windows (Plygem) installed, they were installing the balances somewhat haphazardly.
If I were to replace these, based on the weight, would I be going with two 32G stamped balances?

Yes, if your sash is 40 pounds then the 32C is not nearly enough to support that weight. If you look on the chart we have on our store page, this can only carry 20 through 25 pounds. The 32G option would be better, as it can hold 37 through 40 pounds.
It's possible whoever installed the original balance just put in whatever they had on hand, like you suspect. It happens all the time. Sometimes installers just don't care!
