What is the right channel guide?

A quick learner from FL - Florida says:

I'm not sure which stamp option I should choose. I'm pretty sure I need the 27" S380. The only stamp I could see was 3030. The windows are double pane and weigh 18lbs ea. I have four of them and all are difficult to open and harder to close.

Thanks.

Terry

Hi Terry. I can't say for sure what balance Series you need without seeing the nylon fittings on both ends of the metal channel, but a stamp code of 3030 suggests you actually need a 31" balance. If you confirm the fittings do resemble those on our S380-31, be sure to consider the S385-31 as well, since the only difference between these two balances is the bottom nylon shoe depth. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. You were right, I do need the 31". I measured wrong. I'm wondering about the sash weight. The window and frame weigh 18lbs. I'm replacing 3030, but I was thinking maybe 3020 or 3010. What would you suggest?

Thanks for your help.

Hey Terry. If the window weighs 18 lbs, then the 3030 stamp option is absolutely what you want, since this supports a window sash in the weight range of 16 through 23 lbs. You always want a stamp option calibrated to support the exact weight of the sash. Let me know if you have any other questions.
