It looks like in the second photo these have a hole made for an installation screw. Is that correct? If so what screw should I use and is it self tapping or do I need to pre-drill? I ask because two of these latches had the tab inserts break. I don't think they are a long term solution for attachment to the top sash.
Thank you.
What screws do I use for 26-317?

Normally, the 26-317 Certainteed tilt latches snap into a pre-punched hole in the sash. There is one hole where you can use a #8 x 3/4" flat head screw, either pre-drilled or self tapping.

Thank you for this. The tabs that would otherwise hold these in have had a surprising failure rate. The screw attachment will likely be more durable, and take stress off the tabs.
Thank you.
