Where to install 20-001?

A quick learner says:
I installed the 20-001 sash spring on the bottom of my bottom sash(es) because the cord sash opening on the top of the bottom sash was so large that I couldn't attach the nail (there was noting to pund it into). But now my windows are way too tight I can't opening them without extreme pressure. Would it make a difference if I installed them on the upper side?

I actually install them on the bottom and top of the bottom sash. However, it is tricky installing the 20-001 on the bottom sash in general. You might have to redrill your holes. Also, try using only one spring.
