Which way does the hook go into the door jamb?

A home owner from Columbia, MO says:
I have purchased a new lock but have not inserted it yet. Which way does the hook go into the door jamb--does the hook go down to latch or up into latch? Is the top of the latch where there is already an existing screw as shown on your pictures of mortise lock?
Thanks for your help. BLL

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
Yes, the top of the lock has the small adjustment screw, but if necessary you can install the 82-218 mortise lock upside down. Normally, this mortise lock is installed with the hook pointing up.
