I'm afraid we haven't been able to find a version of the 82-240 with a shorter stem. It could be that your handle has a lower base plate then the more modern 82-080. I wonder if your handle is an older model. You might have to replace the complete handle with our 82-080, I don't believe we can replace just the thumb lever.
