White tip series 500 spiral balancer

looks like i need 17 inch 500 series balancer but the one i removed has a white tip not blue or red

Can you confirm the weight of your sash? A lot of older balances that used white tips can be replaced by red. However, the only way to know for sure is to cross-reference the weight of your sash with the chart shown on the S500-17 store page.

Looks like I have a 500 series balance but my spiral extends out of the tube 1 5/8 inches. This is with the top cap removed and the top end of the spiral flush with the end of the tube. If you measure the extended spiral with the end cap installed as it is installed in the window it extends 2 1/2 inches. My question is, nothing is stated about spiral extension just tube length, what product replaces these balances?

Ah, I see. This balance will have to be custom made. We can help, but can you first give me the length of the metal tube? Can you also tell me the weight of the window sash?

The metal tube is 17 inches and the sash weighs 11 lbs.
