Window Abnormality

Quick Learner from Renton, WA
I've encountered a problem with one of my windows. It started to slide up and down abnormally, and upon closer inspection, I noticed a broken metal slider part on the side. The part has since come off completely.

Unfortunately, I am unsure what this specific part is called, which makes it difficult for me to seek an appropriate solution or replacement. I'm reaching out to you in hopes of identifying this part and seeking advice on how to proceed with a repair.

Hello there. This is called a channel balance. As you surmised, it regulates the opening and closing of the window. I am confident we can replace yours, but I need just a little more information. Specifically I need clearer, up-close pictures of those nylon fittings on either end of the metal channel. I'd also like a picture of any stamp on the metal channel itself. From there we should be able to narrow this down. See the videos I've listed on this page for further reference.

Ah, a channel balance, I see. I've done my best to provide the pictures you asked for. I'm not sure what you mean by stamp on the metal channel but I hope this suffices. The length of the window is about 58.5 inches and the channel balance is approximately 28 inches.

Thanks for getting back to us. With this combination of attachments, you could have either the S380 or S385 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment.

As for the stamp, there should be numbers on the metal balance channel that you'll need to choose the corresponding strength option. If not, you'll need to weigh your sash to determine which option you'll need. There is a chart on the product page that explains how to choose your option based on the sash weight. Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
