Window Balance

Hi there!

We're happy to look into this. Can you show us up close photos of the top and bottom fittings? We would also like to see an image of the inside of each balance’s metal channel, where the innerspring connects to the pulley mechanism; this connection is located in the middle of the channel. Thank you!

Thank you for the additional photos! You probably noticed that one of the balances has a blue spring connection point, while the other balance has a silver connection point. Although it may seem like a small detail, the blue spring connection is unique and a custom order. The balance with the silver connection point can be replaced with one of our standard channel balances, but it's unusual that they are different. Do you know if the windows were ever repaired before?

Can you also measure the depth of the bottom shoes as shown below, and tell us what you get? Additionally, can you confirm which stamp goes with which balance?

Thanks for getting back to me! It's strange that all other identical windows use the same hardware, except for one that has the special balance with the blue connection point. As a policy, we tend to recommend sticking with the original hardware but the decision is ultimately yours. If you'd like to go ahead with the custom order for that balance, please let us know and keep in mind that custom orders are nonrefundable.

You're also welcome to give the Series 351 and Series 390 channel balances a shot which are stock items on our website. The Series 351 has a 1" deep shoe, and the Series 390 has a 1-1/8" deep shoe. 

You can select the 2650 stamp option for the 26-5 balance and the 2940 stamp option for the 29-4 balance.
