Window Balance Assistance

A home owner from Bremerton, Washington says:

Hello,

Thanks in advance for your help!

Based on the information from your website, it appears that we have "block and tackle rod" style window balances. Upon closer inspection of our balances, it was not a big surprise to learn that the industry has discontinued the manufacture and use of this type.

Window details:

*Single hung window (vertical slider)

*Tilt sash

*Vinyl frame

*Bottom sash measures 26" W x 29-3/4" H (not including the two latches on top of the frame). Weight of bottom sash is 18.8 pounds. Glass opening is 27" H.

*Slot in window track is approximately 5/8" wide. The plastic clip that rests under the sash tilt pin measures approximately 1" wide.

Please let me know if any additional information or photos are needed to identify suitable replacement window balances.

Hello,

Based on your photos, you can use the S775-28 channel balance with a 28C strength option to replace your old-style assembelies. It also looks like you'll need the 1-1/4" wide shoe option for your assembly. Take a look and thanks for posting!

Hi Casey,

Thanks for the quick reply and guidance!

Per your recommendation, I have ordered two pairs of the 28" Series 775 balance (Option 28C with 1-1/4" Shoe).

Looking forward to trying them out. The link to the S775 installation guide was also much appreciated, and the process seems very straight-forward.

Regards,

Alan
