Window Balance Broken

Home Owner from CA
Good morning,

The string on my window balance has broken. Is this something that can be repaired myself, or is it un repairable?

I have included some pictures of the window balance and a picture of the only marking on the piece. I cannot find a name brand of our windows, but they are pretty new, as the house was built in 2021.

The metal portion of the balance is 20 3/4" in length while the entire piece (plastic tip to plastic tip is 22" in length.

Do you guys sell these or have instructions on how to re install/repair this? Thank you!

Regards,

Josef

Hey there,

Thanks for writing in! These will need to be custom/special order balances. They are an Extended-Travel Balances that have a wheel installed in the shoe and a hook/clip attached to the shoe.

With that said, I am not able to see the clip or hook attached to the shoe of the balances in your photos. These balances typically have them, so if your balances does not, you'll need to find an undamaged balance. It is important to confirm which clip/hook your balances have since they are important for the installation of the balance.

You'll also want to confirm that the length of the metal channel is 20-7/8", excluding the top and bottom attachments.

Keep in mind, custom orders are non-refundable and non-returnable.

Please also be aware, I'll need to know the exact number of balances you intend to purchase to create the link; there is an order minimum of (2) balances per custom balance type.

Once I have this information, I'll be able to get the link sent over so that you can purchase your balance

Hello, thank you for the reply!

You are correct that the metal channel is 20 7/8" I was slightly off on my measuring.

So it seems like I am missing some pieces then? I am not sure what clip you are mentioning, but I have attached a few more pictures closer up of all the hardware that is on the balance. I hope the other pictures help! Thank you!

I'm sorry to say that none of these photos show a photo of the clip/hook I am referring to. The clip/hook, I am requesting to see, is typically attached to the balance shoe. It is used to anchor the balance string to the window so that it can extend and retract from/into the balance.

As explained, you'll need to obtain an undamaged balance with all of the pieces still in tact, as this will give you a better chance of the clip/hook still being attached to the bottom of the balance.

Unfortunately, I would not be able to identify the right replacement without this piece.
