Window Balance Broken

Question

I have several windows at a vacation property that aren't working. I noticed that the piece that the sash fits into is broken. Are the trackes a standrard width? The window stays up. Is there any way to tell if the balace is also bad?
I'll be back at the house this weekend and can count all the broken pieces and can check the balances.

Thanks for your patience during this busy season. Looks like you need a new pivot shoe. Yours is similar in design to our 15-188, but the only way to confirm is to remove the original and compare dimensions. There is no standard width, so removal and measurement is standard operating procedure.

Odds are your balance is fine, but the only way to know if they're working is to repair the shoe and see if you still run into any problems.
