Window Balance Replacement

Quick Learner from Wisconsin
The window is probably 40 years old. Tenant said the window will not stay up. After inspecting we see the balance string has slack and appears broken. There is only the number 24 stamped on the metal. I don't see any clips that hold it in the jamb. Do I need to take the jambliner out to remove the balance?

Hello,

I believe that we can supply the balances but we would need to see your assembly fully removed from the jamb liner to confirm. We'll also need to know the exact weight of the sash that each balance supports since the stamp codes shown in your photos do not match the strength options for the balances that we carry. We'll also need to confirm the exact length of the metal balance channel. Thank you!

Thanks for getting back to us. Take a look at the S751-25 channel balance. You would need either 24L (6-10 lbs) or 24R (10-18 lbs) strength options to support a 10-pound sash.
