Window Balancer Help

Question

I have a few windows that are having trouble opening and staying open. I assume it's the balancer. The spiral has fallen down on a few of the windows. Will I need to replace the whole balancers or can I re-tension the current balances and re latch it. It's the H-R40-48x72 series 300. If I need to replace the balance, which balance do I need? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for posting. I am afraid I can't cross-reference that code to a specific spiral balance in our database, but we may be able to help regardless. First, yes, it's worth trying to re-tension the balances. If this is a non-tilt window, you can use our 75-005 charging tool; if it's a tilt window, use the 75-006. If this does not work, then the spiral balances likely are just worn down and need to be replaced. You'll need to remove them and give us the details discussed in the video below. We should be able to narrow down a replacement from there.
