Window Ballast

A quick learner from New Milford, CT says:
I'm replacing some window ballasts, and I feel like I'm replacing them all the time. I'm wondering if I have the right ballasts. The ones I'm using are white tipped, 16" tube. I have 11.5 lb windows. Is there a different strength ballast I should be using?

Tom from SWISCO responded:
What type of balance are you using? Can you send a photo so that we can identify your balance and start to think of why it might be wearing out quickly?

For a 11.5 pound sash, I would select the S600-16 red tip balances, for a sash weighing between 6 and 18 pounds.
