Window Brake shoe

Quick Learner
DO you have this part? I looked it up and found out this is called a window balance brake shoe. It sits on top edge of the window. I can't find part. Do you have it? How much? Windows are about 20years old
dimensions are 1 3/8" X 1"(top flat part) 5/8" inside part.

Hello,

We have been trying to locate this top sash guide for years but your photos with dimensions have been very helpful. We feel that our 18-009 top sash guide should work for your sash. Please review the specifications to see if you agree. Thanks for posting!

I have the same top sash guide as indicated by quick learner dated 6/21/2022 #18-009. Original has wings at bottom and is only secured by 1 screw at top. Should another screw hole be drilled in sash or is 1 screw sufficient.

After much research on your web site, my existing BSI balance springs measure 27 5/8" and existing bottom shoe has roller installed. Because the roller is now incorporated into the block and tackle what I need is a BSI 28, weight limit 27-5, I measure shoe width over 1", 1 1/16th", maybe 1 3/32nd" I should order s390 28" 2750. Total length of unit with shoe and top fitting 29"s.

Hello,

The top sash guide that the original posted showed in their photo only has one installation hole, which would match the 18-009 that we recommended. Our replacement has two holes to make it more versatile, but only one screw is required for installation.

As for your balances, it looks like you posted your photos in a separate thread, which we will use to reply with our recommendations. Thank you!

ordered 18-009? only difference I can see is 18-009 doesn't have wings and top is only 7/8", photo top is 1-1/8". Guide is only held in by one screw at top. Could not find any other guide on your web site. is one screw sufficient? not sure drilling another hole in stile that I won't impact glass? Other then the wings and size of the top it's a match.
Waiting for custom balances to be made, so I have time before I will actually install guides.

As for the top of your sash guide, unfortunately, we do not carry a suitable replacement with a top measuring 1-1/8". The difference may not be a problem but if you go to install our guides and run into issues, you are welcome to look through our return policy here
