Window Channel Balance

Looking to replace (1) or (2) channel balances if they are recommended to be changed in pairs. Requesting the replacement part number.

The current one is stamped: 20-4 FA5 CMC 2

Thanks for writing in. I am confident we can help, but we'll need more information to help. Can you send us clearer, up-close photos of the nylon attachments on both ends? Can you also send us detailed photos of the inner guts or underside of the metal channel? We should be able to narrow this down from there.

Here are some up close pics of the nylon end pieces. The internal spring and nylon cord were tossed away, so no pictures of that. I can remove a the remaining good sash balance if you need pics of internals

Thanks for getting back to me. This is most like an S395-21 Channel Balance, with a stamp option of 2040. I would like to see the underside of an undamaged balance, just to be extra cautious. Caldwell balances made in the west coast, and in particular the northwest, sometimes have an unusual feature that make them different from standard balances. While these are relatively uncommon, I like to check to be extra safe. From there you should be good to go.
