Measurement of the metal only is 30 inches long but there's a stamp on the side that says 29?

Hello there. Yes, that stamp refers to the height of visible glass in the window sash, which is 1" lower usually than the metal channel length. You have either the S378-30, S380-30 or S385-30 Channel Balance, depending on the shoe depth. See below. For a stamp option choose 2930.
