Window Channel Balances

Question

Many of the windows in my home are difficult to open, others the channel balances have broken, so I am attempting to replace all.

I have 2 different size/style windows and corresponding balances. One is easier to ID as it is stamped 2940 BS1. I have matched this to the series 380 as it has winged top and 1" winged shoe with a metal measurement of 30".

The second is a little more difficult. It is imprinted 29 9 BX CMC 1. I am relating this to the series 385 as it has winged top and 1 &3/16" winged shoe. The metal measurement here is also 30". I am unable to determine which option would be appropriate on this balance.

Stamps ending in "9" or "90" like yours use an outdated rating system that has fallen out of use. One of the options for our S385-30 may still work for you, but you'll have to weigh your sash on a scale and refer to the chart we show under the product description to confirm.
