Window Hardware

Home Owner from Big Lake, MN

I am in search of the attached window operators. I purchased a home that has "old" windows that crank open and a few of the operators are no longer engaging the gears. I understand from my inspector and a contractor that the windows were manufactured in Minnesota by a company now out of business. I do not recall the name, however, the handle is marked "Eagle" (this is most likely the manufacturers name, I think) and the cover is marked "Truth". The gears apparently work as I am able to push open and shut the applicable windows. The gears rotate without noticing any noticeable broken teeth, so I believe that the issue is with the round insert that the crank handle attaches to, plus the associated assembly hardware (washers). I would also need to replace some of the plastic "Truth" covers and crank handles as handles currently available in hardware stores to not fit.

Thank you so much for the assistance!

Hello! It looks like the worm gear stripped out of your operator. That would be the round insert that you pointed out. This is a fairly common failure point, but it does mean you need an all new operator. Once the worm gear backs out like this it can't be repaired or replaced.

I'd be happy to offer a suggestion, but I will need to see the entire operator mechanism before I can make a suggestion. Would that be possible? Seeing the entire operator removed would be ideal but otherwise I need to see as much of it in one shot as you can manage.

The handle and cover would be our 39-114L and 39-107, respectively, but if the originals are in good condition then there's no reason you can't reuse them.

Tom,
Thank you for the quick response! Unfortunately, all of the units are installed with the wooden window frames solidly in place. I tried to take some additional photos of both the good and the bad installed operators from inside and outside. Please see attached and please note that the photos of the "Working" operator is the opposite hand (left window vs right window).

Also, there are multiple handles missing and a couple of the covers are broken/cracked.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information to assist you.

Thanks again!

These photos are a huge help, thanks! This looks to be a match for our 39-031. Just make sure that the arm sizes are the same, as these were made in a few different varieties. I'll share our measurements below. If yours are different, let me know and we can look at the other options.

We also sell the opposite side as the 39-032.

Tom,

Thank you! Though I was not able to get the exact measurements as extended in the above diagram, the shape and measurements appear correct. Installed, the 10-3/4" length would physically be from the left tip (per the above diagram) to the center of the gear nearest the worm gear (or close). I'm confident enough to try.

Have a great day!
