The crank mechanism is broken. The window will crank out, but it just spins when I try to crank it back in.

Hello there. When that gear pops out with the handle, it mean the whole thing is broken and should be replaced. Can you send us clearer photos of your operator, with the window open so we can see the arm(s) as well? We'll do our best to help you.

Hello there. It looks like you might have an older version of the Pella 39-391 Operator. Please compare to confirm. For a handle, we carry the 39-600 Cover and Handle kit. Take a look and see if you think you might be able to adapt this to your window.

We have lived in the since 2013. These are the windows that were here when we moved in. Hopefully that helps with the age.

Pella changes their hardware quite a bit and it's hard to pinpoint based on a year. The dimensions and design are the best way of narrowing this down. If all seems correct, then the 39-391 is our best bet. Let me know if you have further questions.
