Window Tilt Latches

Home Owner from Jacksonville FL

I have to replace window tilt latches on a number of my vinyl windows.  I've attached a picture of the current latch and the window sill without the latch installed.  The dimensions match the dimensions on your part number 26-244A.  Do you think these will fit properly?

I bought similar latches from Home Depot (Prime-Line F 2749) with same dimensions as your 26-244A, but they had a tab protruding on each side and so would not slide in all the way.  Otherwise, they appeared to fit just fine.

Thanks,

Ted

Hey Ted. If the dimensions match what we show below, then I do think the 26-243A and 26-244 Tilt Latch pair is our best match. One issue may be that the tooth on your old latches has a curve, while the tooth on the 26-243A and 26-244A is straight. I am afraid I can't promise that won't affect compatibility with your window. However these remain our best option for you, if dimensions otherwise match.

Thnaks very much for the prompt reply Bob.  I'm afreaid I don't understand what you mean by the tooth  - could you please point out exactly where this tooth is on your latch and on mine?

Hey Ted. Let me clarify. The tooth is the part that extends and 'latches' to the window jamb. You'll see on your old tilt latches that it has a curved edge. Ours is straight. Sometimes this is an issue and thwarts a replacement from working; sometimes it's fine. It depends on the window. Unfortunately we can't say what the case will be for you, but if all other dimensions I listed are equal, then the 26-243A and 26-244A tilt latches remain our best bet for you.
