Window balance

I cannot figure out how to release the sash from the balance. Can you provide instructions? I've watched several of your videos, but none apply to this type.

Hi there!

Thank you for reaching out to us. We're happy to help with this, but the balance is too obscured. Can you show us a clear photo of the entire assembly?

If there isn't a cutout in the window track to remove the hardware, you'll need to make one yourself as shown in the video below.

Maybe my description was not clear. I cannot remove either window from the frame because the feet do not have any releases nor do they have an opening that would allow me to pull the window out of its track. I have included the best pictures I can take.

To release the sash from the coil balance pivot shoe in the window track, first raise the sash about six inches and tilt it down to lock the pivot shoes in place. To remove the sash, twist it so that one side goes up while the other side remains down. As you do this, the pivot bar will release from one side as it moves up from the pivot shoe. For a demonstration of this twisting method, refer to the first few minutes of "How to Replace a Tilt Window Spiral Balance."
