25" long round window balance

Quick Learner from Fernandina Beach, Florida
I have some old windows that all the balances are rusty or the strings are broken. The metal part is 25 inches long and the shape of the metal is round not square.

The spring is about 15 inches and hooks into a looks like pulley system that is 1 3/8 inch in length and the other end is around a looks like rivet. So at the pulley system attached to the spring there is a string attached to that pulley and goes to the end of the balance which has a similar pulley attached to the balance with a white plastic piece attached also to the pulley and the balance.

There is a white plastic piece at the top of the metal piece attached to the balance. There are metal clips in the window channel which I have no pictures of.

Can you identify this type of balance.

I believe we can help, yes. Your balance is a little older but one of more modern styles should be able to replace it. There are just a couple details I'd like you to confirm. The first is the depth of the metal channel: can you tell me if it's 1/2" or 3/8"? I'm also not sure about is the bottom shoe, visible in your second picture in your first post. Can you tell me the depth? That would be the heel to toe measurement.

The balance is 3/8 inch. The bottom shoe looks to be about and 1 inch.

Thank you! Please see our Series 800 channel balance, I think this would be a good match. See what you think.

Ok I'll try one but what holds it in place in the channel does it come with clips. What length should I order. Please give me the all the necessary information that I need to order one along with all the parts to get it installed in the sash or the frame channel. Thanks for your help.

Well, you said before that the metal channel was 25" long, so I'd probably go with the 25" long balance. I don't know what stamp option you need, so you will need to go by what was originally stamped on your old balance. As for what holds it in place, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about the top sash guide? If you look at the S800-25 store page, you can see under "related items" that the S800-25 is compatible with a few different types. There is no way for me to tell what you need without seeing the old one. Look over the related top sash guides to see which one best matches what you have now.
