My balance is 34" long (just the metal) it has a stamp 33kb5 (see pic.) The spring measures 28 5/8" long. It is 1/2" wide.

Thank you for posting. Our S390-34 channel balance looks like a good candidate for a replacement. This comes assembled with a 19-002 balance top and 15-001 bottom shoe. Compare your nylon fittings with ours to ensure this is a match. if so, then you can go with the 3350 stamp option that corresponds with yours. It holds a sash weight of 28-32 pounds. Look this over and let us know if you need any further help.

We will need to see some photos of your top sash guide and have measurements to be able to identify the correct sash guide for you.

I received my order today. The new balances I received the spring is smaller than my original one. My spring is attached to the second hole from the top the new one is at the 3rd hole. Will the new balance still work. See pics?

The size of the spring doesn't matter. I've seen short springs that are super strong and long springs that are very weak. The calibration of the spring is not something you can eyeball, which is why every balance has a stamp that tells you what it is.

In your case, we recommended the 3350, which carries 38 through 32 pounds. As long as your sash falls within that range then you should be good to go.
