Window balance

Quick Learner from Santee CA
Hello,
I'm kind of confused. The balance has a stamp # 26-4. The length is 27" and the top and bottom taps are winged. Can you direct me to the correct balance?
Thanks.

Hello there. We'd be happy to help. To be safe, can you send me pictures of the attachments on both ends? I want to be certain we know what you have. Typically, the metal channel length is 1" longer than the first two digits of the stamp, so those details make sense. Seeing the attachments should narrow this down! Many thanks.

For sure. Attached are both end of the balance.
Thanks.

That's perfect, thanks. This is either an S380-27 or S385-27 Channel Balance. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, or the measurement from heel to toe. See the diagram below for reference. Measure the depth of your old balance's shoe to determine which matches best.

Finally you have to choose a stamp option, which designates the balance's strength. Choose 2640, which accords with your old balance's stamp of 26-4. Let me know if you have further questions!

Hi,

I also have a window balance that needs replacement. I was following this discussion to make sure I can buy the right product from you. Can I start a new post with pictures and questions? Thank you.

I would definitely recommend making your own thread with photos, yes. That is the best way to ensure we can supply you with the best replacements for the hardware in question.

You may do that directly on our site at any time.
