Window balance for 36 pound sash

The balance is marked "28 5 DL Caldwell" as shown in one of the photos. It's winged on both ends. Can you help me make sure I order the right part please?

I also weighed the sash using a bathroom scale. It's around 35-36 pounds.

The shoe doesn't measure 1" nor does it seem to hit 1 3/32" either. It's looking around 1 1/16", so I figure I need the 385 since it's over 1". This is what I have in my cart:29" Series 385 Channel BalanceS385-29Option: 2865Is this what I need?

If you could show us the connecting point between the spring and pulley inside the metal channel of an intact balance, that would help us confirm if our stock balances could work for your repair or if they would need to be special ordered. That's exactly what we needed to see. If the bottom fitting measures over 1" deep, I agree that you'll most likely need the S385-29 since the shoe can wear down a bit over time. You can check a balance from another window to confirm as well.

As for the strength option, your 28 5 stamp would correspond to the 2850 option that supports a sash between 28-32 pounds. If these balances haven't worked properly from the get-go and your sash weight is exact, I agree that you would need 2865 options for a sash between 35-29 pounds.
