I have a window balance that has failed and I need a replacement. It is 1/2" wide, 17" overall length. It is out of a Phillips window and the marking are 15 4 LR CALDWELL. Thanks for your help. John Davis

Hi there- thanks for posting!

I was able to narrow what you have down to two options. You either have our Series 380 or our Series 385 channel balance. The difference lies in the depth of the shoe. The series 385 balance has a 15-004 shoe, which is 1-3/32” deep while the Series 380 balance has a 15-005 shoe, which is 1” deep. Please reference the below photo to see exactly how to measure the depth of your shoe to determine which series you have.

In terms of the stamping and length of your balance. The length of your balance and the stamp number should only differ by one digit. Can you please confirm the length of just the metal channel on your balance. Do not include to nylon attachments in your measurement. Given that your stamp is 15 4 your balance channel length should be 16 inches. Please confirm this information.
