Window balancer

Quick Learner from Santa Clara, CA

My balancer looks like an S380 but dimensions seem off. Also, the metallic part measures 26.5" but the shoe dimensions look different from the part on your site. Should I go for a 28" one?

This is for a Milgard window ordered in 2005.

We can replace this balance, but it will have to be specially made. No standard balance can replace this, I'm afraid. Before we start, can you show me a picture of the metal hook at the end of the cord? Can you also tell me what the stamp on the metal channel reads? Finally, how many did you need?

Picture attached for the hook and number.

I need 14 in total for 7 windows.

Thanks for contacting us. Can you just confirm the length of the metal channel? These are typically 31-5/8" long, not 31-1/2".

Assuming it is 31-5/8", I just emailed you an order link for 14. Let me know if you have any questions.

It's 26.5 not 31 inches. Please advise whether you've sent the link for the right part.

Huh, that's weird. Someone must have cut down a 31-5/8" long balance to fit this in your window.

We can provide you with a 26-5/8" balance. but you will need to tell me the exact weight of the sash. We can't go by your old stamp since that spring was calibrated for a longer balance.

How do I weigh the sash?

You would need to remove it from the window and place it on a bathroom scale.

It?s 35 lbs. do you need any other measurements or pictures?

Thanks! Please give us a little time to look into this. That's pretty heavy for a 26-5/8" long balance, so we need to see if it's available.
